Meet Dr. Fisher

Originally from Decatur, IL, Dr. Melissa H. Fisher is certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and licensed to perform Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery as well as maintains a permit to perform General Anesthesia in the states of Ohio and Indiana.  Her higher education started upon receipt of a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Chemistry, with a biochemistry emphasis and pre-dental from Millikin University located in Decatur, Il in 2003.  Next she completed her dental education and received a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Nova Southeastern University located in Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2007.  After her dental education she joined the United States Air Force (USAF) and completed two post-graduate dental residencies.  The first residency completed was the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), which was a one year program completed at David Grant USAF Medical Center, Travis AFB, CA in 2008.  From August 2008-July 2009 she served as an active duty member in the USAF as a staff General Dentist prior to starting her second residency. The four year Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency was also completed at David Grant USAF Medical Center, Travis AFB, CA in 2013.  After residency was completed she served active duty in the USAF at USAF Hospital Langley, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA from 2013-2017.  After completion of her active duty military service agreement she moved to Cincinnati, OH to pursue a career in private practice Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.  She is credentialed to care for patients at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, OH.  Along with working in private practice she is also serving in the United States Navy Reserves as an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon.

To maintain professional competencies such as continuing education, and to stay up to date from a clinical, and research standpoint Dr. Melissa H. Fisher is a member of multiple societies and associations.  She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, a member of the Ohio Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, the Cincinnati Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, the Cincinnati Dental Society, the AO Craniomaxillofacial (CMF) Surgery, and the International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Her special interests include dentoalveolar surgery, implant dentistry, oral & maxillofacial pathology, and limited facial cosmetics.  She also helps lead study club topics to the local dentists to help maintain continuing education.
